June-Pride Month

Pride Parade coverage in both the broadcast and print media has increased and improved over the years. Throughout the years, PRIDEChicago has maintained an updated list of media contacts. Press releases, as well as a press pack are sent out, and follow-up phone calls are also made to these contacts. Besides news stories in the city's major newspapers, the parade and other Pride Celebration events are generally listed in neighborhood publications as well. The Parade is also listed in the "Weekend Events" sections of both of the cities major newspapers before parade day. Also, most local television stations (channels 2,5,7,9,32,CLTV) have had commendable post-parade coverage in recent years. Several local radio stations have also covered parade day. The Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times have had excellent parade coverage in their Monday editions after the parade. ABC7 Chicago tapes the parade and broadcasts a shorter version after the parade. Go to the TELEVISION SHOW by ABC 7 Chicago web page on this site for more information.
Community publications, including Gay Chicago, Windy City Times and Chicago Free Press are instrumental in conveying Pride Celebration information as well. Other regional community publications also feature Chicago pride coverage.
Each year, the Mayor's Office of Special Events lists the Pride Parade on it's web site which lists the various parades in the Chicago area. The Illinois Office of Tourism has also included the Pride Parade in it's web page listings.
